Personal development paths reduce staff turnover

Thebe

Thebe provides district nursing, specialist care, home support and day care in 19 municipalities in West and Central Brabant. In addition, Thebe provides care in 23 residential care centres in the region.

Challenges & objectives

The healthcare sector is struggling with hard-to-fill vacancies, relatively high staff turnover and staff outflow. Thebe is no exception. Therefore, Thebe wants to gain more insight into the development needs of employees in order to bind employees more strongly and offer them development perspectives. At the same time, there was a need to strengthen self-organising ability. Thebe had a desire to offer the solution digitally because of the physical distance, despite employees' lesser digital skills.

Solution

In co-creation with Thebe, Ixly developed competences and behavioural indicators for multiple roles through a series of workshops. These were integrated into Ixly's custom 360 solution. To lower the threshold, a Single Sign On has been realised so that employees can plot and read questions from any device. As part of an annual feedback process, kick-off sessions for employees are organised regularly, with Ixly, to enthuse them and to remove questions and obstacles. The outcomes are discussed with employees and concrete actions are formulated. ‘I know you all a lot better now.... and myself too!’

Results

The use of annual 360-degree feedback(loops) contributed to a culture change within Thebe. Self-organisation and cooperation have been positively influenced by individual reflection and team sessions. Staff can find each other more easily and are less afraid to give feedback on colleagues' performance. The data is also used to shape individual development and training programmes. Thebe conducts annual questionnaires for more than 1,000 candidates.‍
